About me & my work:

I consider myself lucky to have found my calling and vocation in life in design from an early age. I have always been fascinated by what design is and what it can do. Initially my understanding of design as you could imagine was fairly shallow and I admired it for its power in making things desirable. As I developed a more sophisticated understanding of design through exposure to its practice and other influential people, I came to realise its power as a system of thought and a way of being. For this reason, my work is based on understanding what design is, uncovering its potential and how to use it to enact change, especially social change. My work manifests in a number of ways and through different practices. I consider myself a design researcher and an educator. My research is divided into two main strands: one focusing on the impact and value of design in social spaces and the other on the epistemological and methodological implications of research through design. I have written a number of books. My first book, Design Transitions written with Emma Jefferies and Lauren Tan—reveals how design is changing around the world. My next book focuses on how design is used to help organisations transform strategy, process and culture.
