About me & my work:

I am the Managing Director of the Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT), which I established in 2007 in order to rescue fourteen children from a corrupt and abusive orphanage.

I have since led CCT through a number of significant organisational changes, including the closure of the initial CCT orphanage in favour of a family-based care model. I now lead an amazing team in Cambodia – together we work to empower Cambodian families to escape the cycle of poverty, assist institutionalised children to return to families, and help residential care institutions transform to a family-based care model.

Despite starting out as an 'orphanage founder' I now spend a great deal of time speaking out against the unnecessary institutionalisation of children around the world, fuelled by the good intentions of foreign donors.

I have been featured twice on the ABC's Australian Story and once on Nine Network's 60 Minutes. I did a talk at TEDx Sydney in 2016, and 'How (Not) to Start an Orphanage–by a woman who did', published in 2016, is my first book.
