About me & my work:
I am a by-product of Be-Bop, in cultural terms, being that my father, Sahib Shihab was one of the founding members of Bebop Jazz from New York.
Professionally I am a Photographer and Director and also consults creatively.
I live and work between Copenhagen, New York and London and I have a weak spot for Jamaica.
I started my career in the midst of the burgeoning Hip Hop scene in New York in the mid 1990's and have been a recognizable part of the scene since then. My photography and film work within art, music, fashion and culture has reached and touched millions of eyes world wide and I am grateful that it continues to inspire.
I get excited and passionate about other peoples talents. Generally I just enjoy collaborating, and recently I started taking it to a new level by managing Universal Bass artist 'ALO WALA'.
I also handle all her visual direction and marketing.
Social Innovation and civiv duty is also a passion for me, so I have created a program in neglected urban areas that involve photographic and visual exploration for the youths under the project title Young Stringers.
My artwork is shown in various galleries and museums including the British museum Victoria and Albert(V&A) where it is shown alongside photography pioneers Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Edward Steichen, Helmut Newton and Jurgen Teller, and I have done collaborative art projects with Kaws, Rostarr and Todd (Reas) James.
