About me & my work:

In 2011 I co-founded the Arts Health Institute that does stunningly beautiful work injecting humanity into health and aged care environments. We grew from an idea to a substantial employer of artists nationally and we build on the strength of good research, scalable arts interventions that make a positive difference to the health outcomes and healthcare experiences of thousands of people every week. We touch the lives of people with dementia to people with depression, Parkinson's Disease to loneliness and isolation, to children with hemiplegia learning new skills to make their weak hand move and take commands for the first time using special magic tricks. We immerse ourselves walking alongside health professionals helping them to see another dimension to care. We all love to seriously play, we are at our best when this happens. Our stable of artists includes comedians, actors, opera singers and cabaret performers, musicians, circus performers, writers, magicians and visual artists. They are incredibly talented and just as the artists are grateful to practice their art in the most profoundly powerful way, I am in awe of their brilliance and the lessons we learn when creativity and imagination collides with science and healthcare.

I am trained as a nurse and midwife. My career has been really diverse that includes a PhD in Behavioural Science in Medicine with stints in academia, teaching, consulting internationally as well as running a start up with an invention I designed that saw it being used in Australia, UK and USA. I found a passion for telling good stories and have produced a number of documentaries, two of which have been broadcast on the ABC.

I am lucky enough to have had instilled in me from a young age, a belief that if you put your mind to it, you can do anything. So I want to continue to be purposefully driven and look forward to more of where this journey takes me and the positive impact I can influence.
