About me & my work:

I was born of German and Japanese parentage in 1947 in Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Having earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University, I went on to work for Kenzo Tange in Tokyo. While at Harvard, I worked part time at the office of Buckminster Fuller and Shoji Sadao, where I became acquainted and worked hand in hand with the late Japanese-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi. I started my own practice in Tokyo in 1977 and have my office now in Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo. I was a Visiting Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design for a semester and while there was invited to serve as a Visiting Critic at my alma mater Harvard. I have won numerous design awards nationally as well internationally, several of which are the prestigious Green Good Design Awards from Chicago Athenaeum which initiated the Good Design Awards globally. I have published books and papers internationally, “Atommetrics: Another View of the Atom Based on Electron Orbital Geometry,” published in an international science periodical FORMA, being my pride and joy.
