"All the words"
Very good at:
About me & my work:
I'm working on building GPS for the English language. I really like words (especially the word 'lexicographer').
I am the founder of Wordnik.com. Previously, I was the editor in chief for American Dictionaries at Oxford University Press, and the editor of the New Oxford American Dictionary, 2E.
My books include Weird and Wonderful Words, More Weird and Wonderful Words, Totally Weird and Wonderful Words, and That’s Amore (which is also a collection of words). My first novel The Secret Lives of Dresses, is my first book where the words are arranged in something other than alphabetical order. My newest book is The Hundred Dresses, a field guide to dress archetypes (illustrated by Donna Mehalko).
I live in California south of San Francisco and spend my free time reading, sewing, blogging, roller-skating, and arguing about whether robots or zombies would win in a fight (lasers optional). I love loud prints, quiet people, long books with happy endings, and McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Hobnobs.
