About me & my work:

I am a curator and media producer who uses creativity and the arts to engage communities with each other, and with the public realm. I believe everything we do is political: I use arts, events and creative work to spark a dialogue about the tomorrows we are building every day, about who has access to the tools that shape the future, about who decides who comes/goes/has a right to speak/a platform to be heard.

I think public space matters in building civil society. I think we need to create spaces for challenging conversations, and we can empower people to shape their cities to become instruments for opportunity and social inclusion.

I am the festival director of Vivid Ideas: an annual event connecting creative practitioners with global leaders. I am one of the curators of TEDxSydney, and instigator of Kids Hack Day Sydney.

I am the public art consultant for Green Square Library and Plaza, currently under development for the City of Sydney, and a member of the Barangaroo Art and Culture Panel. I am delivering an arts and cultural program at Circular Quay (Sydney) for AMP Capital.

In 2010 - 2011, I served as policy advisor to the NSW Minister of the Arts. I directed the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA), a national mentorship and grants program for emerging artists, musicians, filmmakers and designers, from 2006 to 2010. I developed and edited Creative Cities East Asia for the British Council, a project to document innovative models for creative cities across the region.

I began my career editing arts and culture magazines including Yen, Empty and SummerWinter, after studying journalism and law.

I maintain a connection to media by presenting so(hot)right(now), a weekly arts and culture radio show on 2SER.

I am passionate about sustainable urbanism, social innovation, participatory design processes, co-operative development, media, policy, technology, and art. I enjoy curating projects which inspire curiosity and explore opportunities for the arts and creativity to deliver impact in communities.
