Very good at:
+ Facilitating groups to engage in mutual learning
+ Expressing, though many media, the beauty of the complexity of life.
+ Studying across contexts.

About me & my work:

My life & work is about increasing perception of the interrelationality that creates life. Since living systems are everywhere, I work with many sectors, generations, cultures and professionals. The spectrum of people and places I work with is a wondrous laboratory of context comparison... for mutual learning, for the ever lasting study of interdependency and complexity, and for the exploration of Warm Data.

My work asks the question “How we can improve our perception of the complexity we live within, so we may improve our interaction with the world?”. An international lecturer, researcher and writer, I wrote, directed and produced the documentary, An Ecology of Mind, a portrait of my father, Gregory Bateson. My book, Small Arcs of Larger Circles released by Triarchy Press, UK, 2016 is radically personal approach to the study of systems and complexity, and the core text of the Harvard University LILA program 2017-18. I am playing with the intersections of the fields of biology, cognition, art, anthropology, psychology, and information technology together into a study of the patterns in ecology of living systems.

The IBI integrates the sciences, arts and professional knowledge to create a qualitative inquiry of the integration of life. As president of the International Bateson Institute, I am exploring the possibilities of information about complex interactions. We, the IBI group, are together working on research projects that require multiple contexts of research. interdependent processes. Asking, “How do Systems learn?” Our group is a team of international thinkers, scientists and artists have been brought together by the the work of Gregory Bateson, William Bateson and other systems thinkers to generate an innovative form of inquiry, which I coined as “Transcontextual Research”, Warm Data and Symmathesy.

The International Bateson Institute is a non-profit focused on the intersection of ecology, social change, health, economic issues, art, and education. Inspired by Batesonian concepts, a group of international scholars, artists, and professionals are developing the IBI's "transcontextual" research on how to study interactions in living systems.
